These crispy homemade chips are packed with flavour and nutrients. It’s amazing that just by drying kale, a delicious leafy green, you end up with such a tasty and simply crafted snack.
Ingredients
Serves 2 kids or 1 adult
- 3 stalks of kale
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of salt
Method
- Preheat oven to 175 C / 350 F.
- Cut the kale leaf away from the stalk.
- Chop into chip-sized portions. Remember they will shrink quite a bit in the oven so don’t go too small.
- Toss with olive oil and salt and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake in oven for 12 – 15 minutes, shuffling them around as needed so they do not burn.
- Make sure they are crispy when you take them out. If some are still floppy, take out the crispy pieces and bake the others for another minute or so.

Tips
- There will be variations in colour. Some pieces might be dark green and others may be a little brown. This is no problem.
- To make them zesty, add a tbsp of lemon with the olive oil and salt.
- To make them spicy for adults, add a pinch or two of chilli flakes or cayenne pepper.
- They are best eaten on the day they are prepared. Once they cool down, store them in an airtight container.
