Minirin Spray is a medicine containing desmopressin acetate, a synthetically produced copy of the hormone vasopressin called desmopressin. Vasopressin is normally produced by the hypothalamus gland and stored in the pituitary gland. These glands are situated in the brain. Vasopressin and desmopressin help to regulate the amount of fluid in a person’s body.
Minirin Spray (and other forms of Minirin, including Tablets and Melts) is used to treat cranial diabetes insipidus and bed wetting. Minirin Spray can also be used to test the kidneys‘ ability to concentrate urine. It is administered with a nasal spray device to the nostril.
