A current research project aims to build on the results of an earlier study which revealed that Vitamin D deficiency is as high as 88% (9 out of 10 people) in Vietnamese living in Melbourne. Research will now assess the effectiveness of Vitamin D supplements in the treatment of Graves’ disease for Vietnamese and determine the genetic background of Graves’ disease in Vietnamese.

Further Details

The study involves participation in a 30 to 45 minute visit to Western Hospital in Footscray for genetic testing.

The researchers also request doctors to refer Vietnamese patients with Graves’ disease currently under treatment to this research project as participants. (This would not in any way alter the doctor-patient relationship.)
