Protein-bound testosterone is testosterone that circulates in the blood bound to a carrier protein. Some 98% of testosterone in the blood is bound to carrier proteins (the remaining 2% is unbound). Testosterone binds to two different carrier proteins, called sex hormone binding globulin and albumin.
