Presenting cells, which include cells such as dendritic cells, macrophages and B cells, are cells which function to introduce antigens to the immune systems T cells. T cell do not recognise antigens to which they have never been exposed, thus they require an introduction from presenting cells. Once the antigens have been presented to T cells, they are recognised by the immune system thereafter, and an immune response aimed at destroying the antigens is mounted should antigens enter the body.
