A phaeochromocytoma is a rare tumour that develops in the core of the adrenal gland. It is associated with hypertension (high blood pressure). A phaeochromocytoma can develop at any age, but most commonly occurs in people between 30 and 60 years of age. Most of the time, a phaeochromocytoma is non-cancerous (benign), and treatment can return blood pressure to normal.
