Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) is a type of progressive myoclonus epilepsy disorder that is a common cause of myoclonic (brief and involuntary muscle contractions) and clonic-tonic seizures in epilepsy. Some people with JME will experience myoclonic seizures as their only seizure type.
