Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised room, is best known as a treatment for decompression sickness (e.g. after scuba diving). It may also be used in the treatment of cluster headaches, wounds that fail to heal, burns and carbon monoxide therapy. Unlike standard oxygen therapy delivered via an oxygen mask, this therapy is also associated with adverse effects, including damage to the ears, sinuses and lungs.
