Endophthalmitis is an inflammatory eye condition characterised by inflammation of the fluid-filled cavities of the eye. It may be caused by infectious or toxic agents. It is often the result of eye surgery, though it occurs in < 0.1% of all people who have eye surgery. It may cause eye pain and visual changes.
Endophthalmitis is treated with antibiotic or anti-inflammatory eye drops and/or surgery.
