Tobacco curing is a process necessary in order to prepare the tobacco leaves for consuming. Curing dries out the tobacco ready for processing. It involves hanging up the tobacco plant or lying it down and drying it. During this process the starch in the leaves are converted to sugar and the plant will change colour and texture. Tobacco plants are cured in different ways to achieve different textures and flavours of the tobacco.
