Craniofacial hyperhidrosis is a type of focal hyperhidrosis characterised by excessive perspiration on the face. Unlike normal perspiration which occurs in response to heat stimuli as an attempt to maintain body temperature, the excessive sweating that characterises hyperhidrosis occurs as a non-thermoregulatory response. Amongst all individuals who experience focal hyperhidrosis, 20% experience excessive sweating of the face.
