Antiretroviral (ARVs) also known as anti-HIV drugs, are medications used to destroy HIV virus. HIV is the virus that causes HIV/AIDS disease. As a result the quality of life and life span of HIV patients has been significantly improved. The combined use of these drugs is known as Highly Active Anti Retroviral Therapy (HAART).
