The peak alcohol concentration (PAC) refers to the highest concentration of alcohol in a person’s body when they are intoxicated. It can be measured based on the alcohol concentration of someone’s breath or blood. It is important to note that the concentration of alcohol in the body may continue to rise after a person has stopped drinking, as alcohol already in the stomach is absorbed by the body.  As such, PAC may occur after drinking has ceased, and sometimes when a person is sleeping or unconscious.
