Paroxysmal hemicrania is a severe type of primary headache that occurs between 5 and 40 times a day. The headaches typically produce throbbing pain on one side of the head, often behind the eye. These headaches have no apparent cause and are related to other primary headache syndromes (e.g. cluster headaches). They can be treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
