mOTR inhibitors are a class of anticancer drugs that bind to and inhibit certain enzymes inside of cells (called intracellular mTOR tyrosine kinases). This enzyme controls cell growth, movement, death and protein synthesis in response to other cell growth factors. mTOR inhibitors decrease the growth of cancer cells and blood vessels within the tumours. They have been shown to improve patient survival in certain types of cancer.
